Its snowing again in Charlottesville, and I’m buried under sweaters, blankets, hats and cats to keep warm. Seriously considering putting on my fingerless gloves to type, because my hands are about to freeze off. But the snow is beautiful, so I can’t complain too much.

– sam lessin (via msg)
Now that’s not really true. I am a Classics major, so when I see an opportunity to use my degree, I take it.
Profit comes from “pro” a prefix meaning “forward, before, in front of” and “fit” a declined form of “fio, fieri, factus,” meaning “happen, come about, result (from)”...

Is it wicked not to care?
I was doing so well at not caring for a change, so well that I had a streak of 4 different guys in 4 consecutive weeks. And you know what I (mostly) never really minded that most didn’t call or text me again. I went to see where the wild things are with one of them, but that was all. I was happy being single and going out and meeting people.
Then someone came along and fucked it up. ...

After two hours, the sky is slowly oh so slowly lightening to a washed out blue. I’ve been up since five, writing this paper, after having a breakthrough about my topic last night that I then didn’t have the energy to turn into paragraphs. But there’s something about early morning quiet that just makes writing so much easier. Of course, being on Tumblr isn’t a good sign...

This kind of reminds me of someone.
First week
So after a semester abroad and a long, lazy summer in town, classes have finally started again. The dorm next to my apartment has gone from half-full with summer residents here for a few weeks to being crammed with unfortunate second-years. My pantless radius has unfortunately shrunk in porportion (this also has something to do with actually having roommates around in the morning).
But like...
North Korea Pardons American Journalists
This is why I love listening to BBC World Service when I have to get up super early in the morning. Yesterday: driving at 5:07 along Emmet St and hearing about him being sent to N Korea to discuss their release, and then waking up today at 7:41 to hear they’re coming home! Now lets just send him to Iran to get those other guys free!

Cat Hair on my Keyboard
I woke up way too early this morning, with a headache to boot, but after reading this post Liveblogging a Sleepless Night http://redactedblog.blogspot.com/ I’m appreciating just sleeping thorugh the night, even if I did wake up at 730 after a dream about robbers. I’ve cooked breakfast, done the dishes, cleaned the apartment and its only 930. Now I’m catching up on blogs and my...
Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No-Good,...
I am Alexander right now, only in my Terrible, Horrible, No-Good, Very Bad Days its all my fault and actual bad stuff happens.
Backstory: The title is from a children’s book about Alexander, who has a terrible day where all the little things go wrong- gum in his hair, middle seat in carpool, cavities at the dentist’s, etc. At the end, though he realizes his family loves him and its...

What this reminds me of is people who get nostaligic WHILE STILL IN COLLEGE for how awesome or epic parties “used to be”. Its happened twice to me so far that I’ll join an organization that host parties only to have older members tell me regretfully how crazy parties were before so and so graduated. If all this was true, the classes of 04-06 were just high all the time...

Photo gallery: The 10 Best and 10 Worst Cities to... →
Good summary. Based on this article, you’d think your only choices were between Switzerland, Germany, and Australia. I think the whole concept of best and worst is pretty subjectively decided, and they’ve got an awfully small sample size- only 251 cities. I’d be interested to know what criteria they used- because for me, knowing that Einstein worked as a patent clerk in a city...
lazy sunday
Today has been kind of the ultimate lazy sunday (no cupcakes or pirates though). Had a decent amount of people over for Saturday’s party; then had satisfying drunk sleep. Woke up and took on brunch. Vegged out in the magically cleaned apartment, read angels in america, napped and watched the West Wing. Then me and my roommate went for McFlurrys and dinner, stole a tv stand from out by...
